daverj's partial patch for NN 6

First, let me explain that I do not work for Adobe, and the software on this page did not come from Adobe, and is not endorsed by Adobe. It is code I created by me as a user of Adobe GoLive 5.0. Proceed at your own risk.

Like many people, I became frustrated waiting for a patch to be released for GoLive to support Netscape 6.0. Since an official patch was rumored weeks ago, but has not yet arrived (today is March 9, 2001), I decided to figure out what was needed to at least fix the 2 major problems that I am aware of, show/hide of floating boxes, and positioning/moving floating boxes. This fix does not address any other problems, and since it has not been widely tested I don't know if it creates any new problems.

I am offering this for other users of GoLive to try, as free software. I make no claims of it's accuracy, reliability, or functionality. All I will say is that it seems to work fine on my copy of GoLive 5 for Windows, and with Netscape 6.0. I will take no responsibility for problems it causes, loss of software, malfunctioning web sites, loss of income, or any other consequences caused by using this code. You take your own chances downloading it, and if it works for you, then great. If not, it is easy to remove from your system.

Once the official Adobe patch comes out, I highly recommend removing this patch before installing theirs.

Download the zip file below and follow these instructions (a copy of the instructions is inside the zip also). Note that this patch is meant only for Adobe GoLive 5.0

Instructions for using the daverj partial patch (vers. 2) for GoLive 5.0 and Netscape 6:

1. Locate your GlobalScripts folder. It is part of the GoLive installation. It should be somewhere like C:\Adobe\GoLive 5.0_ENG\Modules\JScripts\GlobalScripts. (the drive and second folder may be different on your system)

2. Copy the whole folder and put the copy in a new location, outside of the Adobe folder, as a backup. Note: if you already installed the first version of this patch, and you backed up the whole folder, you do not need to do this step. If you only backed up the IE.scpt and StyleVis.scpt files, then save the whole folder somewhere and copy those two backed up files into it so that the backup folder contains the full set of original files.

3. Unzip the nn6_DJp2.zip file and move the files (except the "readme_nn6DJp2.txt" file) into the GlobalScripts folder, replacing the original ones.

4. That's it. Your GoLive 5.0 should now be able to create pages that use the Show/Hide and floating box position actions, and have them work with NN 6. For existing pages you will need to open them and make some change to one of the floating box actions, or flatten the script library, for it to take effect.

5. If you have any doubts or problems, uninstall this patch by copying the backup files back into the GlobalScripts folder, replacing these new ones.
